Cove Point LNG Project
The Cove Point LNG Project involves the construction of a new natural gas liquefaction facility at the existing Cove Point LNG Terminal, which is currently operated as an LNG receiving terminal. Tokyo Gas Co., Ltd. and Sumitomo Corporation established a joint venture company on February 11, 2014 in order to liquefy natural gas and export LNG. 1.4 million tons per year are to be delivered to TG Plus Co., Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of Tokyo Gas Co., Ltd. The project plans to commence supply in 2017. Tokyo Gas targets diversification of its LNG sources and expansion of its international LNG value chain. This project brings it closer to that goal.
